The General Fund
Gifts to the General Fund give TSLAFriends the flexibility to meet the Tennessee State Library & Archives’ most important needs. The fund may be used to acquire historically significant books, documents, photographs, artifacts and other materials that become available through auctions or private sales. It may also support exhibits, public programs, educational initiatives, preservation efforts and resources needed by Library & Archives staff. All expenditures from the fund are reviewed and approved by the volunteer board of TSLAFriends.
Andrew M. Sherrill Fund
Andrew M. Sherrill (1984-2020), was the oldest son of Chuck Sherrill, State Librarian and Archivist, 2010-2022. As a young man Andrew helped his father with several history and genealogy related projects, including creating the first Power-Point lectures Chuck used to promote research at the State Library & Archives. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, he grew up in Cleveland, Tenn., and came to Nashville with his family in 1992. He attended Cornell University but struggled with drug addiction, which led to his early death. The Andrew Mason Sherrill fund was established in his memory by Virginia Gooch Watson and other thoughtful donors to support the collection development at the Library & Archives.
